The Prosecutor General's Office did not explain the decision. The same list includes nine other organizations from the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, the United States, and France – ranging from the Robert Bosch Foundation to Norwegian volunteers who drive humanitarian convoys to Ukraine.
Our presence on the list forces the people who cooperate with us to be more cautious – from this point on, any interaction carries risks, which we will explain below. People inside Russia and those who visit the country need to be especially careful. The law does not prohibit reading the website, subscribing to channels, or corresponding with us in private messages. Cases are brought for public actions: a repost, a link, a signature, or a donation.
Participation is punishable by fines of up to 15,000 rubles. If a person has been fined for the same thing within the previous 12 months, the next instance may lead to criminal prosecution. Transferring money or organizing activities also carries criminal liability. We have never collected donations, whether in rubles or in foreign currency – the risk that criminal proceedings will be brought against anyone in the near future is minimal, but it exists.
We are not ceasing our work and are not changing our security protocols. All of our projects were developed with such risks in mind.
What to do if you are in Russia?
Delete old reposts and links to any of our materials: online publication is considered a continuing violation, so a post from 2023 breaks the law today as long as it remains publicly accessible.
Furthermore:
Do not post links to platforma.international – neither on social media nor in group chats; Do not post our logo; If you mention the Platform, add a note that the organization has been declared undesirable in Russia; do not sign our statements or speak at our events under your own name.
If you are traveling to Russia
bring a spare device instead of your main one; delete correspondence and mentions by keywords; delete from your phone any banking apps where transfers are visible.
Public figures should assume that screenshots of their social media have already been taken in advance.
